I keep the bird feeders filled up at my house in the Kitsap forests, and that attracts not only birds, but also squirrels. We have two types of squirrels here, and this video features one of each:
- Nemesis is an Eastern Gray Squirrel, named because of how much the cats despise him and want to eat him. He’s kind of a jerk, and he knows it, and skedaddles whenever I go outside.
- Doug is a Douglas Squirrel, a species native to the Douglas Fir trees that make up most of the trees in this area. Doug is smaller and cuter, and more brave, and will happily chow down with me just a few feet away.
I got a cute video of them having breakfast this morning. I used a kind of vintage filter in iMovie to oversaturate colors, and eschewed image stabilization so as to have a kind of old-timey handheld feel. The music just came with the theme in iMovie, so hey, if it works, let it work.
