PROGRAM NOTES
Door Variations originated in
a “back-to-basics” compositional exercise: select a brief
sample (in this case a 1.5 second sample of a slamming
door), subject the sample to a single method of processing,
and use the results to assemble a stereo composition of two
minutes in duration. Door Variations is a collection of
three of these exercises, each using a different technique
of audio manipulation.
